Below the thunders of the upper deep; Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea, His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee About his shadowy sides: above him swell Huge sponges of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a wondrous grot and secret cell Unnumbered and enormous polypi Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green. There hath he lain for ages and will lie Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep, Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die (lord alfred Tennyson, the kraken) ---------------
You may or may not be aware, that today is Air Kraken day and the skies are not SAFE. Fly your dirigible under advisement!
I'm sorry I couldn't have had a more finished piece for this holy day in the steampunk calendar, but such is life. Found a new concept art tutorial and I wanted to try out some of it's techniques, and the sky kraken seemed like a good subject. I also wanted to write a version of the tennyson poem to be more appropriate to a sky kraken (I know it should be air kraken, but I like sky kraken better. it just rolls off the tongue...), but I didn't do that either. Oh well!
Including these in my fantasy world, which inspired me to do a DA search...

Live like it's the last day you will ever live.
the mighty sky kraken really deserves something better than this silly doodle, I hope to revisit it (maybe, eventually).
I'm glad they're making their way into other worlds though
